Abhimaan Remake Soon

With every producer and director of fame running to remake old classics, it came as no surprise when director Rajeev Menon said that he intended to remake Abhimaan, the 1973, Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bhaduri starrer, which was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The film's producer, Pawan Kumar, is however, not having any of this.

He has claimed that he has the copyright of the film and is the owner of the film. Kumar himself has intentions of remaking the Seventies classic, with the Senior Bachchans playing the parents and the junior Bachchans, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai playing the lead roles. But Kumar dismisses that as mere talk and says that nothing has been finalised yet. It is believed that that the Big B asked him to find a director who could do full justice to the Hrishikesh Mukherjee classic. But with nothing has yet been finalised.Kumar promises to make an announcement in a little while. He plans to retain some of the old songs to keep the flavour of the film alive. The original's music was composed by the late SD Burman. Its songs still have a lot of appeal.Apparently, besides Menon even Rakesh Mehra wanted to remake the film with AR Rahman composing the music.

Paris Hilton launches new hair extension

American celebutante, Paris Hilton celebrated the launch of her latest hair extension line, The Bandit. Some of her closest friends and family gathered at a Malibu beach house for drinks, food, music and a mini fashion show.

"Today we are here for the launch of the Bandit which is what I am wearing right now," noted Hilton. "This is the short version. Basically it's a headband with a hairstyle attached to it." Sold exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply, Hilton launched the Bandit from Dreamcatchers targeted for all ages.

"Well I already have my own extension line. I wanted to make something that was a little bit more accessible for anyone for any age," explained Hilton. "I have a cousin that's 6 years old and she loves it. So it's basically having a hair do where you don't have to go to the salon. You just put it on right away and you have great hair."

The new hair extensions come in three different lengths, short, medium and long available in eight various shades.

"I've had the samples for a year now so I've been wearing them for a while now before the launch," noted Hilton. "My mom has them, my sister, some of my girlfriends. It's just been really easy for the summer especially with the weather. My hair gets really frizzy in this weather. So it's been great having the Bandit."

On the heels of Obama's pick for VP, Hilton commented about McCain's ad where Hilton was included, boxing Obama as a "celebrity." Hilton explained that when the ad ran on television she was on tour with her boyfriend Benji Madden from the band Good Charlotte.

"My mom first told me about it. She was a little bit upset. She thought it was immature," responded Hilton. "Then when Adam McKay and I talked on the phone, I'm a huge fan of 'Step Brother,' I love that movie. We just got together and did it."

Hilton didn't have much to say in reaction to Obama's choice for VP, Senator Joe Biden other than, "Awesome."

Instead she spoke about her upcoming album. Her last album titled Paris came out in August of 2006. "Right now I am finishing up my album. It's a dance album, like a dance record. I've been writing all the music. Also some songs for the show. The main title songs. That will be coming out in October."

Bail plea of Piggy Chop's ex-secy rejected

A metropolitan magistrate (MM) on Friday (Septemeber 5), rejected the bail application of Prakash Jaju, former secretary of actress Priyanka Chopra, who had been arrested for sending obscene and threatening messages to the actress.

Jaju, who is currently in police custody, yesterday filed an application for bail on the grounds that the police do not need his custody for investigation. The magistrate, however, rejected the bail observing that investigation is still underway and his custody is required.

Jaju had been arrested on August 26 by the Mumbai police from Madhya Pradesh for allegedly sending obscene and threatening SMSs to Chopra since June 2002 when he started working as her secretary.

He had been absconding for two years and has been accused of threatening Chopra with dire consequences if he is not given his job back.

Jaju had been working as Chopra's secretary from June 2002 to July 2004. However, Chopra noticed that Jaju was trying to get "close" with her and started harassing her by sending her obscene and threatening SMSs demanding her to stop talking to any other man.

He had also allegedly threatened to harm her professionally and personally if she does not marry him. Jaju had also allegedly attempted to take overdraft from Chopra's bank and took about Rs 10 lakh from producer Sanjay Gupta for the film 'Plan' and had not informed Chopra about it.
