Alyssa Jayne Milano is an American actress and former singer. Her childhood role as Samantha Micelli in the sitcom 'Who's the Boss?' made her famous, and an eight-year stint as Phoebe Halliwell on the supernatural series Charmed brought her a new round of fame.

Alyssa is the daughter of Italian-American parents: Lin, a fashion designer and talent manager, and Thomas M. Milano, a film music editor and boating enthusiast. She has a younger brother, Cory (born in 1982), who is also an actor. In a 2003 interview, Milano recalled having had a good childhood, having grown up in a "loving, true family."

Although born and raised in Brooklyn, Milano had trouble getting this accent, because she worked to lose it to land more roles in the theater, including in a stage adaption of Jane Eyre. By the late 1980s, Milano was established as a teen idol, appearing in made-for-television teen films such as Crash Course and Dance 'til Dawn (both 1988). Both projects allowed her to work alongside close personal friend Brian Bloom. This working comradere would later expand in 1993 when Milano guest starred in Brian's series 'The Webbers'. She produced a teen workout video in 1988 called Teen Steam and achieved some fame outside the USA with her music career, which lasted until the early 1990s. In 1991, Milano wanted to quit acting to pursue an academic career, but was unable to gain release from her contract.

When her role on Who's the Boss ended in 1992, Milano feared having trouble to obtaining other roles, aware of the fate of many grown-up child stars in that period. Nevertheless, she was excited when she found out the show was cancelled, being ready "to move on." Milano tried to shed her "nice girl" image by appearing in several films targeted at adults, such as Casualties of Love: The Long Island Lolita Story (1993), Embrace of the Vampire (1994), Deadly Sins (1995), and Poison Ivy II: Lily (1996), where she starred opposite Johnathon Schaech and Xander Berkeley.

The transition started in 1992, when Milano auditioned for female lead as a homeless teenager in the independent film Where the Day Takes You. Although the crew was reluctant to sign a former child star, she was given a small role as a prostitute in the production. She was noticed by the media, that helped her land the controversial role of Amy Fisher in the high profile TV movie Casualties of Love: The Long Island Lolita Story.

Despite the milestone, Milano was soon out of work and after a period of six months, she decided to return to television. She portrayed bad girl Jennifer Mancini on Melrose Place, Meg Winston in Spin City, and most notably as Phoebe Halliwell on the eight-year run of the popular hit tv series Charmed . The stint garned her new fame and she was named the most successful and popular actress on the primetime soap, alongside Heather Locklear.

Milano is a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and writes a regular baseball blog on the Major League Baseball's website. In 2007, Milano launched her signature 'Touch' line of team apparel for female baseball fans, selling it through her blog and Major League Baseball's website. It also became available in 2009 through a boutique store located in Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets.

She has eight tattoos on her body: one on each wrist and ankle, shoulder, neck, hip, and lower back. Milano is a vegetarian and appears in numerous PETA advertising campaigns for vegetarianism. Outside of acting, her hobbies include photography, humanitarian work, and spending time with her three dogs and eight horses.

She dated actor Corey Haim from 1987 to 1990 and was engaged to Scott Wolf in 1993. She was married to singer, songwriter Cinjun Tate of Remy Zero in 1999; they were divorced later that year. She also dated Charmed co-star Brian Krause and Justin Timberlake for a while. After one year of dating, she and CAA agent David Bugliari were engaged December 18, 2008. Milano and Bugliari married on August 15, 2009 in New Jersey, at the home of Bugliari's family.

Will Natalie take home the Oscar this year?

So the way to Oscar Glory has been paved for Natalie Portman.

Portman’s portrayal of a troubled ballerina battling her demons and sexuality in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan has won favour with both the Critics’ Choice as well as Golden Globes, seen largely as the precursors to the Oscars. In previous years, many Golden Globe awardees have gone on to take home Uncle Oscar during Hollywood’s glitziest, most prestigious awards ceremony.

But the critics have themselves been divided about her performance – some have hailed it as the most daring performance by a female lead in recent years, while others have written reams about the singular pained expression that she sports all through the movie. The movie’s highly publicised lesbian scene that Portman herself admitted as a deliberate male-audience drawing move seems to be more talked about than her portrayal of a ballerina on the brink of insanity. The Academy’s puritanical voters, however, have so far shied away from bestowing glory on anything, well, out of the ordinary, so far. So will Portman’s gloriously lesbian act of onscreen love find any takers in the Academy, come Oscar night?

Trade experts say Portman’s name is as good as etched on the card inside that sealed PriceWaterhouse Coopers’ envelope.

Another upset that seems to have divided the world into two factions is the huge snub that Christopher Nolan’s ‘Inception’ got at the hands of the Globes, with ‘The Social Network’ walking away with top movie honours. Maybe a dream conceptualised, executed and realised struck closer to the heart than a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream (I forget how many layers). I have a feeling that what swung the vote in ‘The Social Network’s’ direction was the “Because I’m CEO, bitch” line. Who doesn’t want to say that out loud?

With the Academy deciding to increase the number of best film nominees from 5 to 10 this year onwards, both films will find their chances of winning halved. (Psst, expect Filmfare to follow suit in the blink of an eye.)

Who do you think will be nominated/will win this year’s Oscars?

My predictions for the three top awards:

Natalie Portman in Black Swan - Best Actress

Colin Firth in The King’s Speech – Best Actor

The Social Network – Best Film

Sarah Jessica Parker interested in 3rd ‘Sex and the City’

Apparently Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t think that the ‘Sex and the City’ franchise is over yet.

While it has been rumored that a prequel might be in the works without the original ladies, Parker thinks the originals could keep going, states the Los Angeles times. “I think there’s one more story to tell. I know there is,” Parker admitted.

However, she thinks the franchise needs to wait for now: “But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know?”

Parker also added that she didn’t the the franchise should move into a prequel as it would be “creating two histories” by going back in time.

Do you think a third film should be made?

Actress Mila Kunis arrives at the 16th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards at the Hollywood Palladium on January 14, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.

Mila Kunis is one of Hollywood's hottest actresses right now, but she didn't always feel so good about her looks.

She said: “I was always the smallest in my class. I’ve learned it wasn’t a bad thing to be picked on because when you’re little it seems awful like it’s the end of the world.

“I grew into my face . I had a very funny looking face when I was little. I had like big eyes, big lips, big ears. But when I was little I was constantly being made fun of for having big eyes and that was awful. I used to come home crying: ‘Why do I have big eyes?’ And my parents were like: ‘You’re crazy!’”

However being bullied at school has not put Mila off education forever -- the 27-year-old beauty is now planning to follow in her Black Swan co-star Natalia Portman’s footsteps and attend college.

She told Britain’s OK! magazine: “I will go to university one day. I wanted to, it’s just I chose a career from an early age. Who’s to say I made the right decision? I don’t know. Time will tell.”

Lindsay Lohan Will Be Charged in Jewelry Theft Case

It looked like Lindsay Lohan was getting her life back on track after a 3-month rehab stint, but the young starlet suffered another major setback: She will be charged with felony grand theft for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a SoCal jewelry store, reports TMZ.

Lindsay Lohan was not wearing any jewelry while out last night, FYI. (Getty)
The site reports LiLo could be charged by the L.A. County District Attorney as early as Monday, and, if convicted, the charge could mean up to 3 years in a state prison. But, LiLo is prepared to fight the case, claiming she took the jewelry on loan.

LiLo was seen on surveillance video wearing the necklace, and she was also photographed wearing the jewelry, which was allegedly stolen on January 22.

Things could get really ugly in regards to her DUI case, too, since the actress is still on probation.

Duffy Opens Up About Rebellion, Parents' Divorce

Duffy was affected badly by her parents break-up at the age of 15, and she dealt with it by rebelling -- getting body piercings and even stealing a boat.

She said: “From 15 to 18, I did everything from body piercing to going on 48-hour binge-drink beach parties, to stealing someone’s boat late at night and rowing it from one place to another when we were drunk, to jumping on a milk float at 4 am for a lift home.

“My mum and I didn’t speak for months.”

Discussing her career, the Welsh-beauty confesses she came close to quitting after the success of her first album Rockferry because she couldn’t make “decisions” about the way she wanted her fame to go.

She said: “Life had got so complicated. I found it difficult to operate in the music industry as a 25-year-old woman.

“I couldn’t make a decision because apparently I was very ‘tired’ and ‘emotionally drained.’ And what am I doing my job for? I’m not doing it to be adored or admired, to make money or be successful -- I’m doing it to do something of excellence.

“So I did think, ‘Maybe I won’t do this at all.'"

However after splitting with her former manager, Duffy managed to get back to doing what she wanted, and she now admits she is happier than ever with boyfriend, rugby player Michael Phillips.

She told You: “Without sounding corny, the closest I’ve got to a home is Michael. When I’m with him, my shoulders drop and I can breathe.”

Deepika, Kat patch-up at Kjo bash

Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have patched up. At Karan Johar's mega party on January 3, 2011, Deepika took the initiative to sort out matters that had soured their relationship in the past. Onlookers say it was Deepika, sporting and frank as ever, who approached Katrina and expressed her wish to end their cold war.Deepika approached Katrina and said, "It's time we let bygones be bygones. Personally, I have nothing against you. I don't blame anybody else for whatever happened between us".The 'anybody else' Deepika was referring to could be ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor . The fact has been widely reported that Ranbir started getting intimate with Katrina on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Raajneeti, which were being shot around the same time, even though he was dating Deepika. The break-up between Deepika and Ranbir happened soon after, and the actor has been seen cosying with Katrina once too often in the recent past."Karan's parties are famous for being grounds of patch-ups. Karan himself never has prejudices for or against anyone in the industry and in his own way tries his best to bring together warring industry colleagues and let them sort out differences. That's what happened on Tuesday," says a source at the party.Incidentally, Karan's best friend, superstar Shah Rukh Khan , was seen striking a patch-up between Bollywood's other two top divas, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra . The incident happened a day before a recent award ceremony where both Kareena and Priyanka were to perform.Owing to technical problems, Priyanka's rehearsal seemed to take longer than the stipulated time. Kareena, who was to rehearse next, was seen patiently waiting outside.Says an eyewitness: " SRK got to know about the tension brewing and spoke to both the actresses separately. Kareena shifted her rehearsal schedule to the next morning. Priyanka went up to Kareena and gave her a warm hug." It seems like the season of patch-ups in Bollywood. But then again, what is showbiz without its share of catfights? We are sure the claws will come out any time soon again.

Yeh Saali Zindagi: Review by Rummana Ahmed

Yeh Saali Zindagi: Review by Rummana Ahmed

Sudhir Mishra's 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' is an interesting take on how matters of the heart see no reason and no matter how rational you try to be, when in love the best of us behave like fools. Despite being an original concept, the execution suffers on account of its length and the treatment of the sub-plots.

Yeh Saali Zindagi (YSZ), apart from everything else, is like a memory game. Remembering characters, their individual plots, their idiosyncratic manners etc. Borrowed from many Hollywood gangster movies, YSZ introduces us to around 120 characters (mostly sidekicks who show up for a scene and disappear) which at first gets a bit overwhelming. But eventually, you resign yourself to the ones that matter and it gets comfortable.
